As a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) I offer professional psychotherapy services to adults. I hold a Master of Science degree in Counseling from San Francisco State University and have over 20 years experience offering counseling services. My practice encompasses working with people from diverse ethnicities, backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles. Within the confidential, warm, and supportive environment at my office, you can reflect on your life and relationships, cultivate personal strengths, build resilience, and nurture and improve self-understanding.
Everyone struggles with pain, difficulties and challenges in life. People choose therapy for many reasons. Some individuals are looking for assistance in meeting the challenges that come with everyday life, such as relationship problems, job stress, or life transitions. Others may face emotional distress feeling overwhelmed, trapped, anxious, angry, depressed, or lost. Often people may simply feel troubled because of a traumatic event that disrupts usual daily activities.
Psychotherapy can assist you to address specific problems and find ways to change psychological and behavioral patterns that are no longer working for you. I use experiential, collaborative and interactive methods, based on the belief that each person and their problems are unique. In my practice an emphasis is placed on understanding your struggles in the context of who you are as an individual, incorporating your innate temperament, personal and family histories, and current circumstances to attain your goals from therapy.
In addition to traditional talk therapy, we may draw on creative therapeutic tools, such as drawing, imagery, and sand tray, that can tap deeper into the issues that we are facing. Working with me will help you to focus on specific processes and uncover how past experiences influence current relationships. Together we can increase awareness of how you engage with and respond to people and experiences in your life, and identify behaviors that are unproductive.
The more self-understanding we develop, the more flexibility and adaptability we have, the more influence and choice we can have in our lives.
My psychotherapy practice includes, but is not limited to, treatment for the following:
